Why Clarkie will be Huddersfield's loss and somebody else's gain
20 February 2012, 12:09 pm
It was back in July that I detected that certain sections of Huddersfield Town's followers did not fully appreciate what they had in the shape of Lee Clark. That day Huddersfield played Gateshead in a friendly but the feeling around......Scott Parker couldn't handle the heat as Toon skipper
10 February 2012, 12:57 pm
It was interesting to hear Scott Parker's name thrown into the mix this week with England seeking yet another new captain. Don't get me wrong, as a player I actually have a lot of time for Parker's energetic style of......Cardiff move for Vuckic could be the making of a young star
9 February 2012, 4:22 pm
It's been obvious for a few months that Haris Vuckic is far, far too good to be playing reserve team football for Newcastle United. The Slovenian has also been told to be patient by Alan Pardew when it comes to......Given and N'Zogbia are returning to a different Newcastle United
3 February 2012, 11:38 am
It doesn't get much bigger than playing for Newcastle United. Not my words, the words of the great, late Sir Bobby Robson. The former Newcastle United boss was talking about players leaving St James' Park for bigger and better things.......Top five status isn't a surprise to everybody at Newcastle United
2 February 2012, 10:46 am
Phil Thompson (from his comfy studio chair) couldn't believe that Newcastle United had won at Blackburn Rovers but for those who have followed the Magpies a little closer this season, the win at Ewood Park was typical of a......
Ashley’s a vandal, say MPs
22 February 2012, 11:39 am
The renaming of Newcastle United’s ground continues to rankle people, this time in parliament where a Commons motion has been taken out to object to it. Ashley’s plans to rename St James’ Park after his T-shirt company have certainly caused a stir, one that stretches as far as House of Commons. 12 MPs have signed [...]...How does the final third of Newcastle’s season look?
21 February 2012, 9:13 am
With two-thirds of the Premier League season now complete, this author looks at what the final third might have in store for Newcastle United. We’re now into the home stretch – the final third of the 2011/2012 Premier League season. We have no Cup distractions so our only aim is to finish as high as [...]...Dirty David Sullivan spills beans on Ba’s Toon contract (and Ravel bid)
19 February 2012, 5:59 pm
West Ham owner, “Dirty” David Sullivan (not to be confused with the other West Ham owner, “Dirty” David Gold), has been spilling some interesting beans of gossip on Demba Ba’s Newcastle United contract to the West Ham fan site “West Ham Till I Die.” Sullivan, who of course is one of the owners of Ba’s [...]...Toon Europe: Is it possible and are we ready?
19 February 2012, 10:38 am
Newcastle United’s current 6th place Premier League position with 2/3rds of the season gone raises the possibility – albeit an outside one – of European qualification, but how will we cope if that happens? I think it’s fair to say that Newcastle United have exceeded most people’s expectations so far this season. There are still [...]...Mike Ashley’s big, fat, St James’ Park lie?
18 February 2012, 7:46 pm
“All this was inspired by the principle – which is quite true within itself – that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in [...]...
The writing's on the wall (again)
21 February 2012, 9:45 am
So the grafitti's back. No sooner had the initial white daubing of "St James' Park" been removed, its perpetrator Michael Atkinson arrested for his trouble, than someone branded the stadium with its rightful name once more, this time in black paint.Meanwhile, Sir John Hall has voiced his disapproval of Jabba's renaming of the ground, claiming: "I think Mike Ashley accepts that Sports Direct Arena...The boy's (and the Bhoys) doing good
21 February 2012, 8:20 am
It's grim up north? Not a bit of it. Fraser Forster kept another clean sheet on Sunday as Celtic cantered to a 5-0 victory at Hibs, their 18th straight league win. With Rangers having been deducted 10 points for entering administration, the Bhoys are a whopping 17 points clear at the top of the table. Who says the Scottish Premier League is uncompetitive?Another Toon loanee enjoying a five-goal...Wor Al

May I introduce to you Black & White & Read All Over's new official mascot, Alan. Named in honour of Alan Shearer (obviously), she - yes, it's a she - sports a magnificent black-and-white-striped head. Her somewhat excessive facial plumage (which Paul argues would have made Sideshow Bob a more appropriate name) means she has difficulty seeing - no jokes about her having as much insight as her...Quote of the day
19 February 2012, 4:32 pm
"I’m told he’s got a £7 million get-out at Newcastle and he gets half the money over that. They keep denying it but I think you’ll see in the summer he will leave Newcastle or he’ll get a monstrous rise to stay there."If it's not Droopy trying to tout Demba Ba around, it's slimy West Ham chairman David Sullivan. Kindly desist from talking about players who aren't your own, you twat.In the first...Maybe Mayuka?
17 February 2012, 3:54 pm
It seems we may have developed a taste for African strikers. No sooner had Emmanuel Mayuka helped Zambia to a shock African Cup of Nations final victory over Mr T's Ivory Coast on Sunday, than his agent was claiming we've taken a shine to him, along with Arsenal, Fulham and a clutch of other clubs. He did his bit in the final but didn't impress me as much as midfielder Isaac Chansa and defender...

As posted on .com we are on Sky more than the bloody Simpsons these days. From now until the 2nd week of 9th of April, every game wil be moved and shown on massive plates across the land. Cisse and Ba Partnership Could Send NUFC Into The Top 4
5 February 2012, 10:40 pm
It will be a debut long remembered but No. 9 Cisse managed to clinch all three points for Newcastle today in a closely fought game against Aston Villa. His 77th minute goal was enough to send Villa packing with a fantastic chest control and sent the ball flying past Given. Ba added another goal to [...]...Renaming St James’ Park is just terrible
10 November 2011, 12:12 pm
We laughed at the adding of Sports Direct @ St James’ Park naming but it was something done to prepare us for the worst bit of advertising that Ashley could thing of. Renaming St James’ Park to Sports Direct Arena is a terrible idea to say the least and Ashley will know full well that [...]...Newcastle United Take Top 3
2 November 2011, 10:40 am
The Monday night match against Stoke solidified our status as a credible team in Premiership. A unbeaten run is was always difficult to maintain in any circumstances but Monday night Away from Home is a different challenge. But in the end, Newcastle looked much stronger with Ba providing an excellent display to bag his second [...]...Newcastle United Still Flying High
20 September 2011, 6:17 pm
Much to the surprise of some, Newcastle United has made its strongest start for five years in the Premiership. As yet, Newcastle remain undefeated although a string of draws won’t keep us in contention for the top 4 placement for long. Leon Best popped in the only goal for us over the weekend saving us [...]...Joey Barton Given The Boot
1 August 2011, 3:11 pm
Newcastle United have finally given up on Joey Barton and allowed him to leave on free transfer. Using Twitter as a forum for publishing outspoken comments, Barton is no stranger to courting controversy. Barton now has free rein to go to whichever club that wants him. Newcastle originally wanted to sell Barton who only had [...]...

Six of the Best & Worst – January Transfer Window
7 February 2012, 7:11 pm
Newcastle landed Papiss Cisse during this years transfer window in a £10 million deal from Bundesliga side Freiburg. The most prolific African in German football will form part of a “two Demba’s” strike partnership with this season’s top goalscorer Demba Ba and was issued the fabled number nine shirt. Whether the Senegal international will prove to be a success on Tyneside will only become apparent over time but there are others we know who have [...]...Magpie Baby Steps
20 January 2012, 12:08 pm
Who would have thought Newcastle would be the first to break the bank in the January transfer window! Bienvenue Papiss Cisse and now this team can work and move forward into the latter half of the season. QPR were taken care of by Leon Best in a dull and forgettable match that showcased Best’s ability and lack of fitness as well as Ben Arfa’s headless running and constant losing of possession. This team faces a [...]...Back To Business, Ben Arfa Style
9 January 2012, 9:52 am
Two wonder strikes send the Magpies into the next round of the FA cup and at this moment in time it is hard to imagine that this is not some kind of dream. No bust ups, no extreme controversy, no erratic results, is this really Newcastle United? The team has not only scrapped the image of old but is also playing entertaining football and more importantly winning. First the defending champions and now the team [...]...The Toon Army Marches On
5 January 2012, 12:23 pm
Last night, Newcastle United FC gave what can only be described as a “Total Football” performance against a Manchester United team lacking in any real substance or passion. Michael Carrick and Ryan Giggs were torn to shreds by the grit and tenacity of Tiote and Cabaye while Jonas and Taylor suppressed Patrice Evra and Antonio Valencia in their own half. Dimitar Berbatov was totally shut out while Wayne Rooney and Phil Jones showed nothing but [...]...The Devils Enter The Arena
3 January 2012, 12:05 pm
Last Friday Steven Gerrard showed the footballing world what he has done and can still do when fit, unfortunately Newcastle United’s defence and midfield were the victims of his talent. With Liverpool behind us and new injuries to address, Alan Pardew must be wondering if January might be a good time to add some experience to a team that will face Manchester United with either Sammy Ameobi or Shane Ferguson in the starting eleven. With less than 20 [...]...

Will English clubs' Champions League failure be a passing phase? | Paul Wilson
22 February 2012, 3:31 pm
Chelsea and Arsenal's expected failure to reach the Champions League last eight could mark a low ebb in English footballThe vultures are beginning to circle over the stumbling, disorganised remnants of Premier League participation in Europe's major club competition, waiting for the moment when life can be pronounced extinct and the bones of a once thriving enterprise can be picked clean, probably prior to being danced over.In case you haven't heard, should Arsenal and Chelsea fail to overcome th...Newcastle would receive only £3.5m from Demba Ba sale, claim West Ham

He has a decent chance of succeeding – everyone is getting the better of Chelsea right now. These days, AVB can’t talk to anyone without someone asking him if he’s going to be sacked. Welcome to my world, Andre. You have to feel some sympathy for Villas-Boas, who inherited a team that turned old overnight. Shortly after that, they turned on him. Ashley Cole was r...
