  • City 5 - 0 Sunderland

    8 April 2011, 6:06 pm
Late again, I know. But this was a particularly enjoyable victory, and its impression remains fresh. This was the best attacking performance of the season. The best of 2011, certainly. The best since Fulham or West Ham away. And, crucially, a confident re-framing after two weeks off for international football. The Chelsea defeat was so dispiriting that I feared an April collapse; no tempo, no rhythm and failure on both remaining fronts. What we had instead was a display with a fluency and confid...
  • Send Matt home

    20 March 2011, 3:50 pm
Just a quick request:As part of the ‘Coming Home' promotion, Etihad Airways, Official Sponsor of Manchester City, is offering fans the chance to fly to Manchester to see City play Tottenham, as we blow the chance of Champions League qualification for the second successive season.Friends of TLDORC, Matt Coleman and his partner-in-crime Gav, are in the final eight of the competition, and we're hoping to get them over from Sydney for the match.Through their work with the Sydney Blues, they try to...
  • City 1 - 0 Dynamo

    18 March 2011, 7:25 pm
And our chance of winning a trophy this year has halved, at least. The prospect of a Manchester United-free knock-out competition was bounteously exciting. We were, I think, the strongest remaining side in the competition yesterday and, had we overturned Dynamo Kyiv, the favourites for the crown. But it wasn't to be. Rather, it was just a smaller scale Hamburg: for smaller stakes, in front of fewer people, with less emboldening crackle in the air. But it was still a good performance, brave in th...
  • City 1 - 0 Reading

    14 March 2011, 10:39 pm
After a series of difficult and disjointed home 1-0 wins, here was a 1-0 win to revel in. They didn't play brilliantly although, given recent exertions and performances, they played better than I thought they might. And, crucially, we have avoided immersion in the dreadpool of a cup final against Manchester United. Forgive me my cowardice, but the only way to think as a City fan is by identifying the worst possible outcome, and then navigating ways of avoiding it. We are not going to lose a fina...
  • Dynamo 2 - 0 City

    11 March 2011, 7:35 pm
Our first meaningful test of the season, and, well, it's like the Peter Crouch game was only yesterday. I know we're in the quarter-final of the FA Cup, and only in the last 16 here, but given the relative quality of the opposition this is at least as good a chance of winning a trophy. And, lest we forget, winning a trophy is what all this money was thrown at.By many measures, this was not our worst performance of the season. I've seen us defend worse, I think, and look likely to score a goal. ...

3 days afterStill recovering!Watched a bit of Soccer AM and sad to report that the bloke who plays Bates in Downton Abbey is a rag, so I won’t be watching that again.D Day dawned. Read the Observer piece which was a bit mixed up, to be honest! We got to the ground at about one ish and strolled around City square fairly relaxed. Picked up a programme and was pleased with Gary’s interview with Sue and I though the photos were a tad embarrassing, but, I suppose a true reflection!Game on, and a ...

  • Manchester City Owe Hughes Nothing, City Only Spent What United Forced, Monopoly Broken Again, City Title Win Would Devastate United

    10 May 2012, 10:45 am
QPR defender Clint Hill believes his club will park the bus against us, after beating Stoke by one goal. “Stoke was our game of the season, and now we need to put the whole bus in front of Manchester City and see what happens.” I'm just intrigued to find out how many of our ex players line up against us, right now the rags in the media are spinning it as we owe Mark Hughes for mistreating...

To all those spuds who mocked us when beating us to Champions League football a while back, I bet you're now praying we beat Newcastle on Sunday aren't you? considering they could knock you off 4th spot. I seem to remember a lot of loud mouth spuds on here, I wonder what they are thinking right now? Earlier this season they were on about how their team where back in form and ready to knock...
  • United Fan Howard Webb To Officiate Our Newcastle Game, They Could Not Make It Up

    2 May 2012, 11:13 am
Or could they? Although they have a habit of lying through their back teeth, The Daily Rag aka Mail are reporting that Howard Webb has been chosen by Dave Richards and David Gill at the FA, to officiate our game against Newcastle up next on the 6th May. It's time our lads gather to beat Uniteds 12th man to put Howard Webb in his place once and for all, as we have done so far with United. South...
  • Trafford United Vs Pride Of Manchester, United Throw Toys Out Their Pram After losing To Manchester

    1 May 2012, 9:18 am
In my previous article I predicted that Wayne Rooney was more likely to dive/go down easily ahead of Ashley Young, Rooney proved me to be correct after theatrically throwing his heels back up into the air to land on his knees. Resulting in getting Captain Vincent Kompany yellow carded by Andre Marriner, the only time he pulled out a card for United was when he were left with absolutely no...
  • Derby Day Laugh: Nani Gets In First Excuse, Uefa Threaten Us And Fergy States The Obvious, Will Young Dive?, The Argentine Connection

    30 April 2012, 5:55 am
Well well well Fergies gagging order didn't last long now did it, with Nani apparently blasting his team mates by claiming they should be ashamed of themselves for letting City back in the title fight. It's not only United fans that are arrogant, they're players as just as much if not more, also deluded into believing that they carry with them the supernatural spirit of players past. I can hear...
  • The Carling Cup – serious business

    21 September 2011, 11:19 am
Brian Marwood insists that City will mount a serious challenge to win the Carling Cup this season. City last won this trophy in 1976 thanks to Dennis Tuert’s overhead kick. City went out in the third round of the competition last year at the hands of West Brom after fielding a weakened side, but tonight’s visitors Birmingham are likely to face a stiffer challenge. Marwood said, “The Carling Cup is an important competition for us, there is a European place on offer, there is the potenti...
  • Manchester City issue statement concerning newspaper allegations

    5 September 2011, 6:39 pm
A simple statement on Man City’s official website reads, “Following allegations made to the football club by Dr Anthonia Onuoha, subsequently reported in today’s media, the Club can confirm that a board led review has been launched into the matter.” This is amid claims that Garry Cook sent an offensive email to Nedum Onuoha’s mother. The message allegedly mocked Dr Anthonia Onuoha’s battle with cancer after she had written to City football administrator Brian Marwood last Oct...

So in City’scase, Mario Balotelli and Stefan Savic are eligible without having to be named in the Premier League squad. • Manchester City: a tale of love and money

    18 May 2012, 10:01 pm
Manchester City won the Premier League title at the weekend, thanks to £1bn of Sheikh Mansour's money. But it wasn't always like this…Last Sunday, Manchester City, the club I grew up supporting, won the Premier League, 44 years after their last championship. City's all-star squad, paid for from the oil fortunes of the club's far-fetched owner, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi, were playing Queens Park Rangers, who were struggling to stay in the league. The old Manches...

    18 May 2012, 7:53 am
Today's fluff shook Roy Keane's handPep Guardiola might have won the La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League. But has he won the Carling Cup? Has he been to an FA Cup final? Has he been involved in the unrelenting scrap to finish above Everton and nab that prestigious seventh spot? No, no and no. Sure, at Barcelona he could sit back and watch Xavi pull the strings in midfield with his one-touch passes, vision and close control. But there's no challenge there. No, the real challenge wo...
