City 5 - 0 Sunderland
8 April 2011, 6:06 pm
Late again, I know. But this was a particularly enjoyable victory, and its impression remains fresh. This was the best attacking performance of the season. The best of 2011, certainly. The best since Fulham or West Ham away. And, crucially, a confident re-framing after two weeks off for international football. The Chelsea defeat was so dispiriting that I feared an April collapse; no tempo, no rhythm and failure on both remaining fronts. What we had instead was a display with a fluency and confid...Send Matt home

Just a quick request:As part of the ‘Coming Home' promotion, Etihad Airways, Official Sponsor of Manchester City, is offering fans the chance to fly to Manchester to see City play Tottenham, as we blow the chance of Champions League qualification for the second successive season.Friends of TLDORC, Matt Coleman and his partner-in-crime Gav, are in the final eight of the competition, and we're hoping to get them over from Sydney for the match.Through their work with the Sydney Blues, they try to...City 1 - 0 Dynamo

And our chance of winning a trophy this year has halved, at least. The prospect of a Manchester United-free knock-out competition was bounteously exciting. We were, I think, the strongest remaining side in the competition yesterday and, had we overturned Dynamo Kyiv, the favourites for the crown. But it wasn't to be. Rather, it was just a smaller scale Hamburg: for smaller stakes, in front of fewer people, with less emboldening crackle in the air. But it was still a good performance, brave in th...City 1 - 0 Reading

After a series of difficult and disjointed home 1-0 wins, here was a 1-0 win to revel in. They didn't play brilliantly although, given recent exertions and performances, they played better than I thought they might. And, crucially, we have avoided immersion in the dreadpool of a cup final against Manchester United. Forgive me my cowardice, but the only way to think as a City fan is by identifying the worst possible outcome, and then navigating ways of avoiding it. We are not going to lose a fina...Dynamo 2 - 0 City
11 March 2011, 7:35 pm
Our first meaningful test of the season, and, well, it's like the Peter Crouch game was only yesterday. I know we're in the quarter-final of the FA Cup, and only in the last 16 here, but given the relative quality of the opposition this is at least as good a chance of winning a trophy. And, lest we forget, winning a trophy is what all this money was thrown at.By many measures, this was not our worst performance of the season. I've seen us defend worse, I think, and look likely to score a goal. ...

Well we finally got the zine off to the printers. Tomorrow it is, of course Porto at home – 5pm kick off so it can finish before the Chimps league games. Porto, we opted for the one day Tommy Cook trip, so up at 4am! Parked up at T1 even though we knew the flight was from T2 (don’t ask) So walked through past the ads proclaiming Turkish airlines in partnership with manu – which were just at either gobbing or twatting level, so opted for the latter and gave the granny shagger a sharp one on the nose. Must say everything went smoothly. Was dropped off in Porto by the river, and enjoyed the bars, then a river cruise, followed by the cable car, b... Monday

Villa – we had a good run down the M6, just a slight delay due to a burnt out car on the hard shoulder that everyone wanted to gawp at.Parking restrictions don’t make it easy down there these days, but found a decent little car park for a fiver so we were all set. Snack at Tesco's with lots of familiar faces. Bloke on the next table was a Bristol Rovers fan who visited the Swamp when they beat the rags one tinme. Hey Fulham that was a stinker weatherwise. I met up with Gary Crate – club official and nice guy - before the game to look at the trip hazard on Commonwealth way where Blues fans go flying after the game so hopefully something can be done about it. Ok a soft penalty for our first but at least WE admit it.“We wanna go home, it’s f*cking freezing, we wanna go home” - we all did with 3 points in the bag.Handful of Fulham fans with their shirts off doing the Poznan after our goals!Rags on th...

Manchester City: 2011-2012 Has Seen Much Improvement, City Creating True Winning Mentality
18 February 2012, 1:14 pm
<!-- Article Start -->No buys in the January transfer window with the start of new rules being implemented by Uefa, was probably more about Mancini being happy with his playing staff and not wanting to panic buy than any rules but. There was only one arrival at City with the short term loan signing of David Pizzaro from A.S.Roma. The sales of Nedum Onuoha, Shaun Wright Phillips, Kieran Trippier...Battle Won But War Not Over, Fergy The Hypocrite And United Fans Running Scared

The Carling Cup – serious business
21 September 2011, 11:19 am
Brian Marwood insists that City will mount a serious challenge to win the Carling Cup this season. City last won this trophy in 1976 thanks to Dennis Tuert’s overhead kick. City went out in the third round of the competition last year at the hands of West Brom after fielding a weakened side, but tonight’s visitors Birmingham are likely to face a stiffer challenge. Marwood said, “The Carling Cup is an important competition for us, there is a European place on offer, there is the potenti...Manchester City issue statement concerning newspaper allegations
5 September 2011, 6:39 pm
A simple statement on Man City’s official website reads, “Following allegations made to the football club by Dr Anthonia Onuoha, subsequently reported in today’s media, the Club can confirm that a board led review has been launched into the matter.” This is amid claims that Garry Cook sent an offensive email to Nedum Onuoha’s mother. The message allegedly mocked Dr Anthonia Onuoha’s battle with cancer after she had written to City football administrator Brian Marwood last Oct...City submit Premier League squad

Dzeko then bagged four of City’s five goals in an outstanding 5-1 away victory against Tottenham last weekend. The decisions were made by the Barclays Awards Panel that includes representatives from football...Tevez happy in Manchester

Manchester City 4-0 Porto (City won 6-1 on agg) | Europa League report
22 February 2012, 8:32 pm
There was merriment as well as a little achievement. A surge of three goals in the last quarter of an hour swept Manchester City into the last 16 of the Europa League, where they will take on Legia Warsaw or Sporting Lisbon. This contest was serious enough for Rolando, the visitors' centre-half, to be sent off with a second yellow card for dissent. He had protested, wrongly, that the substitute Edin Dzeko had been offside when giving City a 2-0 lead after 76 minutes. The firepower is to be enhanc...Roberto Mancini says Carlos Tevez may make City return in two weeks

Chelsea and Arsenal's expected failure to reach the Champions League last eight could mark a low ebb in English footballThe vultures are beginning to circle over the stumbling, disorganised remnants of Premier League participation in Europe's major club competition, waiting for the moment when life can be pronounced extinct and the bones of a once thriving enterprise can be picked clean, probably prior to being danced over.In case you haven't heard, should Arsenal and Chelsea fail to overcome th...Carlos Tevez apologises but is this the end of the saga? | Jamie Jackson

Sorry seemed the hardest word for the striker but, now he has said it, the next instalment of his turbulent career beginsThe curious incident of Carlos Tevez in the night-time at Bayern Munich has been a saga to rival the tediousness of Bleak House. With the 28-year-old finally apologising unreservedly to "everybody I have let down and to whom my actions over the last few months have caused offence" the prospect is raised that at last what happened on 27 September at the Allianz Arena can be for...

It was clear from Andre Villas-Boas’ team selection against Napoli that he intends to get the better of the Chelsea old guard. He has a decent chance of succeeding – everyone is getting the better of Chelsea right now. These days, AVB can’t talk to anyone without someone asking him if he’s going to be sacked. Welcome to my world, Andre. You have to feel some sympathy for Villas-Boas, who inherited a team that turned old overnight. Shortly after that, they turned on him. Ashley Cole was r...
